FAQs

1

What can I expect in the first session?

Your initial session is a chance to explore what's bringing you to therapy, get to know each other, and begin building a shared understanding of your goals. I'll ask background questions and tap into several life domains, but we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable to you. Initial sessions are typically 'assessment' based as we define the problem areas and set goals that will inform the therapeutic plan.

2

How long are sessions?

Initial sessions are typically 70 minutes long but may run longer depending on the nature of the referral. Standard therapy sessions are 50 minutes long. Group therapy sessions and workshops will be tailored dependent on the content.

3

Do I need a referral?

I accept referrals from GPs and other healthcare professionals such as psychiatrists, school counsellors, social workers, occupational therapists, midwives etc. I also accept self-referrals (you're more than welcome to get in touch directly).

4

Can I come for assessment only?

Yes. Some people come purely for assessment and recommendations, while others choose to continue with therapy.

5

Do you see ACC clients or accept insurance?

At this stage, I am not contracted with ACC. However, I can provide receipts and reports for clients seeking reimbursement from private insurers (depending on your plan). I am not an affiliate provider, therefore, clients are responsible for paying upfront and claiming reimbursement.

6

What happens if I need to cancel?

Life happens, and I understand plans change. I ask for 24 hours' notice to avoid a cancellation fee. Late cancellations or no-shows may be charged the full session fee.

7

Do you offer Telehealth?

Yes! I offer both Telehealth and in-person sessions. Telehealth is my preferred option as it offers greater flexibility and accessibility for clients across Aotearoa. In-person appointments are available in central Auckland only.

8

How do I book an appointment?

After receiving your referral via email, I will make contact with you to get a little bit of background over the phone and to discuss any immediate queries you might have. We will then arrange an initial appointment at a time that best suits you.
